The Saatva Classic offers a balance of attainable pricing and luxury design. The mattress construction begins with a 3-inch Euro pillow top crafted from organic cotton. In the lumbar region, there is a half-inch memory foam layer for zoned support that enhances pressure relief and spinal alignment, followed by a dual-coil system that combines individually wrapped comfort coils with a durable base layer for longevity and optimal airflow.
Several performance aspects stood out in testing. The mattress excels in temperature regulation, making it an excellent option for warm sleepers. The edge support proved exceptional thanks to high-density foam reinforcement around the perimeter — a crucial feature for couples sharing a bed. Yet motion isolation testing revealed limitations due to the innerspring design. While everyday movements weren't particularly disruptive, standardized tests using bowling balls and vibrometer readings indicated average performance in this category.
It's customizable, with an option for every sleep type. The Classic offers substantial customization options for different sleep preferences, available in 11.5- and 14.5-inch profiles and three firmness levels — Plush Soft, Luxury Firm, and Firm. The Luxury Firm model I've tested has offered excellent back support for back sleeping, albeit with an initial adjustment period. However, our former sleep reporter, James Brains, who identifies as a strict side sleeper, thought the medium-firm Luxury Firm model lacked sufficient give for optimal spinal alignment, though back sleeping was notably better. If given the opportunity to switch, he'd expect the Plush Soft to be more in line with his sleep preferences.

The Saatva HD is specifically designed to support heavier bodies between 300 and 500 pounds, but you don't have to be plus-size to enjoy it. Comparable to the flagship Classic, but with an intentional design focus on heavy-duty materials, including high-density foam, latex for added durability, reinforced foam rails around the edges, and extra-thick steel coils that won't sag. It also has improved motion isolation over the Classic.
Reviews editor Kinsley Searles found the HD to be a standout among plus-size options. While many specialty heavy-duty mattresses lean overly firm, the HD delivered a true medium-firm feel that comfortably supported her in every sleeping position. Its targeted pressure relief cradled key impact areas, resulting in noticeably pain-free mornings.
The mattress also excelled during shared testing, particularly in motion isolation and perimeter integrity. Sharing the bed with her partner, Kinsley noted that movement transfer across the surface was virtually imperceptible, and the rigid edge support allowed full utilization of the mattress edge without any roll-off sensation. Combined with natural breathability that prevents heat retention, the Saatva HD justifies its higher price tag as a durable, long-term sleep investment.

Saatva Zenhaven Latex Mattress
The Zenhaven Latex Mattress features zoned support for optimal spinal alignment and an array of organic certifications. It is dual-sided for different feels in Luxury Plush and Gentle Firm, but it's heavy so you'll want to pick a firmness and stick with it. The edge support and cooling were exceptional, and overall the pressure relief was good but not outstanding.

A dual-sided, all-natural latex mattress with a flippable design. The Saatva Zenhaven features a Luxury Plush feel on one side and a Gentle Firm feel on the other. It's crafted with organic cotton, GOTS-certified organic wool, and five zones of vented organic natural latex certified by GOLS and Eco-Institut. It offers an eco-friendly build focused on targeted pressure relief and cooling breathability.
The flippable design serves as built-in insurance when buying online, but treat flipping as a set-up adjustment, not a routine. Having two distinct firmness options in a single mattress takes the guesswork out of ordering online. If the initial surface doesn't suit your body type during the 365-night trial, you can adjust the feel at home rather than dealing with the logistics, downtime, and fees of a full return or exchange. However, note that the solid latex design is exceptionally heavy and cumbersome. Solo flipping is virtually impossible and poses a risk of injury; maneuvering the mattress safely requires two to three adults.
Tester experience on feel has varied. Feedback on the flippable sides highlights key subjective differences: while early evaluations noted minimal contrast between the two sides, broader testing and showroom visits confirmed two distinct firmness levels. The overall feel also split our team. James Brains found both sides ran firmer than advertised, causing pressure build-up on shoulders and hips when side sleeping, while our long-term tester, deputy editor Bronwyn Barnes, spent 2.5 years sleeping on the Zenhaven and felt the Luxury Plush side landed in a balanced "Goldilocks" range that noticeably reduced hip and shoulder pain over time. Bronwyn appreciated the idea of switching to the Gentle Firm side "as insurance" if she had felt the Luxury Plush break down over time and get too soft, but has reported that it showed no noticeable sagging or body impressions after 2.5 years of consistent use on the same side of the bed. Its bouncy, responsive design made it easy to shift positions without feeling trapped.
Cooling and edge support excel, while motion isolation is mixed. Vented airflow channels within the five-zone latex layer work alongside moisture-wicking wool and an organic cotton cover to dissipate heat effectively. The dense latex core also provides solid foundation support and impressive perimeter edge stability. However, motion isolation performance depends on the environment: while movement transfer was barely noticeable in real-world sleeping scenarios, the surface allowed more vibration during our standardized bowling-ball testing.

Its unique combination of pressure-relieving AirCel memory foam and lumbar-focused coils targets pain points while maintaining optimal spinal alignment. Best suited for sleepers with arthritis, herniated discs, scoliosis, or sciatica, the supportive plush feel is most comfortable for side sleepers, petite individuals, and older adults.
Plush and cloud-like design. It's immediately pressure-relieving and cozy on pressure points, which will suit people who gravitate toward their side. Some back sleepers could find support, but heavier people will find their hips sink too far, and there is simply too much cushioning for stomach sleeping. Zoned support provides extra attention to pressure relief around the hips, shoulders, and lumbar region.
Weaker-than-average edge support, but strong motion isolation and cooling balance it out. The more plush foam construction sacrifices some edge reinforcement, but partner movements feel dull, and sleep is minimally interrupted. The bed also incorporates graphite and Phase Change Material into the foam layer — something that no other Saatva mattress employs — to enhance cooling and dissipate heat faster.
Saatva Contour5 Memory Foam Mattress
The Saatva Contour5 is a luxury memory foam mattress available in two firmness options. It melds various high-density, nontoxic CertiPUR-US certified memory foam layers with lumbar support infused with phase change material. It offers a soft and cozy feel and great motion isolation despite poor edge support and sleeping warmer than we expected.

The Contour5 is Saatva's memory foam mattress. The Saatva Contour5 is a memory foam mattress available in medium and firm comfort options. The medium firmness has a cradling feel that's ideal for side sleepers. It's crafted with seven layers including various memory foams meant to cool, cradle, and support the body as well a layer with phase change material to absorb and dissipate body heat and lumbar support. The antimicrobial knit cover is made from organic cotton.
It's plush and contouring. Reviews contributor Alex Temblador tested the Contour5 and found that its impressive body-contouring would most be appreciated by side sleepers who seek a soft, plush feel without sinking too far. For stomach and back sleepers, she recommends opting for the firm option, since it came across as a little softer than advertised.
It did well in our motion isolation tests. The Contour5 registered very low ratings on the vibrometer after a weight was dropped. Subjectively, our tester couldn't feel movements from another person in the bed.
Where the Contour5 didn't excel was in cooling and edge support. Temblador slept warm on this mattress and felt uncomfortable when sitting on the edge. We recommend it for side sleepers who don't sleep hot and prefer a plush mattress.

The Saatva Solaire Adjustable Firmness Mattress stands out in the adjustable air-bed category, especially for couples seeking customizable comfort and a substantial weight capacity. With its impressive 1,600-pound weight limit, the Solaire addresses a critical need while providing 50 comfort levels on each side of the bed — significantly outpacing the 20 settings found in Sleep Number beds. The design stacks a layer of zoned latex and gel-memory foam over an adjustable air compartment, separated by a moisture barrier to reduce opportunities for bacterial growth.
The adjustability is incredible. The nuanced adjustability was a blessing and a learning experience during the testing period. The expansive 1-50 firmness scale allowed for precise tuning, though finding the perfect setting required some experimentation. Sleep reporter James Brains found that his optimal side-sleeping position was 27, while his wife preferred a firmer 37 setting for back sleeping. This versatility proved particularly valuable when back pain from physical activity made side sleeping uncomfortable. He could easily increase the firmness to promote proper spinal alignment while sleeping on my stomach. It also adjusts silently.
It has excellent edge support, but subpar motion isolation. The edge support shone in my tests, offering stable perimeter integrity for both reclined and seated positions. Yet, motion isolation was a notable limitation, with significant movement transfer across the surface — confirmed through both subjective testing and our standardized bowling ball test. For couples who prioritize motion isolation, a split mattress configuration might be a better solution. We tested the flex top king variant, which features a divided upper section while maintaining a connected lower portion.

Saatva Memory Foam Hybrid: Saatva's most affordable mattress combines memory foam layers with pocket coils to provide a balanced sleep experience. It still offers zoned support for enhanced pressure relief, but costs $80 less than the Classic. The core design difference is that hybrid sandwiches individually wrapped coils between a 1.5-inch gel-infused comfort layer and a 1-inch base layer of foam for support and durability, while the Classic has a dual-spring design with a thin, high-density foam layer for lumbar support. Unlike the Classic, though, it's only available in one firmness and is particularly well-suited for side and back sleepers seeking plush comfort without sacrificing spinal alignment, and also offers better motion isolation. It has a slightly less responsive feel than the hybrid's bounciness.
