Streaming platforms have made those long flights with no WiFi, weekend camping trips without service, and signal-less subway commutes that much more bearable through their mobile apps' "download" feature.
HBO Go, the cable network's streaming platform for TV provider subscribers, is among them. The HBO Go app for phones and tablets lets you download shows and movies for watching at home or on-the-go without internet or cellular service.
Those who prefer to watch without any streaming quality interruptions can have a maximum of 15 HBO Go titles added to their download list at one time. Once added, the content will be available for up to 48 hours after the download before expiring.
Not all shows and movies are available for download. To know what you can add to your download library, check to see if there's a download icon, signified by a down arrow, next to the title. You must also have a current HBO subscription through your TV provider that isn't in a trial period to download movies and shows through the mobile and tablet HBO Go apps.
How to download HBO Go shows and movies to your phone or tablet
1. While connected to your internet or mobile network, open your HBO Go app and log in.
2. Search the HBO Go library and select the title you want to download.
3. Tap the downward arrow transposed over the thumbnail image of the movie or show.
4. Go to the MY HBO section of the app and tap MY DOWNLOADS to see all the titles available to view.
5. Select the one you wish to watch and begin streaming.
