In his first interview since being found guilty of assaulting and harassing his ex-girlfriend, Jonathan Majors told ABC News that he's not giving up on a return to Hollywood.
When ABC News' Linsey Davis asked Majors if he thinks he'd ever work in show business again, the actor gave a straight answer.
"Yeah, I do. I pray I do," Majors said. "But it's God's plan and God's timing."
While Majors thinks his acting career can make a rebound, others in Hollywood are less convinced.
"I wouldn't hire him," one producer, who spoke anonymously for fear of retaliation, told Business Insider hours after the guilty verdict was handed down to Majors. "He was on his way to being big, but I can't have him front a movie now."
In mid-December, a New York City jury acquitted Majors of assault with intent to cause injury but found him guilty of recklessly assaulting and injuring his ex-girlfriend, Grace Jabbari. Prosecutors proved that Majors broke Jabbari's finger in March 2023 during an argument in the back of a car. Majors was also found guilty of harassing Jabbari.
Less than two hours after the verdict was read, Marvel's parent company, Disney, cut ties with Majors, who plays Kang the Conqueror in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Aside from Marvel, Majors starred opposite Michael B. Jordan in "Creed III" and led the indie film "Magazine Dreams" last year. The latter movie received critical praise at the 2023 Sundance Film Festival and was primed for an awards-season push. However, Disney dropped it from its release calendar as Majors awaited trial.
Majors told ABC News it felt "like the world stopped" once the verdict was read.
"It's like you work so hard for things. And then, you know, it's done," he said.
