Rihanna has shaken up the lingerie industry with her latest runway event.
The Savage X Fenty fashion show was held in New York City on September 10, and is now streaming exclusively on Amazon Prime. Musicians like Halsey and DJ Khaled performed, while an inclusive range of models danced across a giant stage. The result was a truly diverse and unprecedented lingerie showcase.
Before any models hit the stage, however, Rihanna and her team explained how such a giant event was conceptualized and turned into reality.
"I'm looking for unique characteristics in people that aren't usually highlighted in the world of fashion as it pertains to lingerie and sexy — what society sees sexy," Rihanna said at the start of her Savage X Fenty fashion show.
"As a kid, I've always used fashion as a defense mechanism," she continued. "But that, and music, and makeup, and lingerie, these are all just different ways I can express my creative."
"It's all me as the muse," Rihanna said about her brand and fashion show. "It's all me that's like, behind everything."

Jennifer Rosales, the Senior Vice President of Fenty Corp, was also featured throughout the show, and shared some insight into Rihanna's vision.
"There's not a target audience — it's for everyone," Rosales said of the Savage X Fenty show.
"Everything that she does is for everyone," she continued, discussing Rihanna. "She wants everyone to feel beautiful, everyone to feel empowered, everyone to feel and have that strength within them to become the best version of themselves."
The diverse cast, stage structure, and message behind Rihanna's event weren't the only features that made the Savage X Fenty show stand out from others recently held during fashion week.
While most fashion brands reserve runway clothes for celebrities and high-profile clients, Rihanna's latest designs are all currently available to purchase on the Savage X Fenty website.
The Savage X Fenty fashion show can be streamed now on Amazon Prime, while shorter clips are available to all on the brand's Instagram page.
