The Gear VR is a virtual reality (VR) headset that uses Samsung's latest flagship devices, including the Galaxy S6, S6 Edge, S6 Edge+, and Note 5, to play VR content.

The content plays from a compatible Samsung phone, and the Gear VR headset uses optical lenses to focus that VR content.

VR makes for a more immersive experience compared to playing or watching content on a flat screen, as your entire field-of-view is taken up by the content playing from your phone.

With the Gear VR and a compatible Samsung smartphone, you can play VR games like the beautiful "Land's End" (from the makers of "Monument Valley"), as well as other videos and VR experiences. Normally, the Gear VR costs $99 to buy if you already have a compatible Samsung smartphone. If you don't, you'd need to buy one of those aforementioned flagship devices to use the Gear VR, which could cost you $650 or more, depending on which model you'd buy.
