The new chief revenue officer at CloudKitchens, Travis Kalanick's fast-growing ghost-kitchen startup, has big expansion plans.

Marcus Jewell joined the Los Angeles company earlier this summer, a CloudKitchens employee said — a move that was not previously reported. Jewell spent the past five years at Juniper Networks, a publicly traded networking-tech company where he was most recently the chief sales officer and chief revenue officer, according to his LinkedIn profile.

Jewell has major growth plans for CloudKitchens' sales unit, posting on Tuesday that he wanted to hire 200 account executives and 22 managers in the US alone. It's unclear how many people currently work on the sales team.

A CloudKitchens representative and Jewell declined to comment.

CloudKitchens' sales team has historically had much higher turnover than other departments, former salespeople and executives said. Last year, Insider reported hundreds of employees across departments left in the first few months of the year, many dissatisfied with compensation, promotions, and culture.

In fall, CloudKitchens notched a $15 billion valuation in its first significant round of external fundraising, Insider previously reported. About that time, the company hired the Amazon veteran John Curran as its chief financial officer. The startup previously raised money from Saudi Arabia's sovereign-wealth fund, The Wall Street Journal reported in 2019.

Under Kalanick, CloudKitchens closely guards its plans. It has expanded to more than 70 US locations, according to an Insider analysis, as well as countries including South Korea and Brazil.
