Dame Helen Mirren is amazing.
2016-06-16The 70-year-old actress' illustrious career spans more than 50 years, and she continues to astound.
She's played queens and spies, and now, she's joining the "Fast and Furious" franchise for "Fast 8."
Here are 15 reasons why she is the best:
Helen Mirren quickly established herself as an acting force to be reckoned with. She joined the Royal Shakespeare Company by age 20.
Mirren's illustrious film and TV career spans 50 years, impressive in any industry.
Mirren has played three British monarchs on-screen and is the only person to have portrayed both Queen Elizabeths. She won an Oscar as Elizabeth II in "The Queen (2006)."
She is one of 22 people (13 women) to win the triple crown of acting — which means winning a Tony, Emmy, and Academy Award. She's won four Emmys, one Oscar, and one Tony.
She became a dame in 2003 for her contributions to the arts.
And even though she is a female equivalent of a knight, she'll still ride the subway and show proper etiquette.
Mirren also has a sense of humor, like when she kissed Stephen Colbert.
She also killed it hosting "Saturday Night Live" when she was 65.
She also knows how to politely insult people, like drunk drivers who are “shortsighted, utterly useless, oxygen-wasting human form of pollution."
She's not afraid of telling it like it is. In 2015, she said she wished she had told more people to “f--- off" over the years. "I love the fact that girls are so much more confident and outspoken than my generation were. We were sort of brought up to be polite and sometimes politeness, in certain circumstances, is not what’s required, you’ve got to have the courage to stand up for yourself occasionally when it’s needed.”

Mirren often criticizes sexism in the industry. In 2015, she called ageism "f---ing outrageous."
