AT&T is plugging away at its LTE network expansion, and it's finally reached the point where it can start offering smartphones that take advantage of those zippy speeds.
One of those phones is the HTC Vivid, a hefty (in a good way) device that launches on the network November 6 for $199 on contract.

I've only spent a day with the phone, but on first blush it's quickly becoming one of my favorites from HTC. Unlike a lot of Android phones out there, the Vivid has an incredibly sturdy and solid design. It's the first smartphone I've held in a long time that feels as durable as the iPhone 4/4S.
Unfortunately, AT&T's LTE network isn't ready in NYC yet, so I can't speak to those data speeds. However, the phone can also access the carrier's HSPA+ network, which tends to be a tad faster than the 3G you're probably used to.
I also like the 16:9 screen ratio on the Vivid. It's perfect for watching movies. And it really helps that the screen is bright as hell.
There are a lot of great smartphones coming this month, so no time for a full review of the Vivid. But based on my short time with the phone, I'd say it's definitely worth a look. Especially if you live in a city with AT&T's LTE.
